T.D Jakes Eldest Daughter "Cora Coleman Jakes" Announces Divorce From Her Husband

A pastor at T.D. Jakes’ Dallas megachurch has announced she and her husband are divorcing.

Cora Jakes Coleman, Jakes’ eldest daughter and associate pastor at The Potter’s House Dallas, announced Monday on Instagram that she and her husband had decided to end their marriage.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce that my husband and I have decided to divorce,” her post reads. “This is a very private and personal matter and I kindly ask for your prayers as I prioritize myself, and most importantly, my children’s well being at this time. God bless.”

Jakes Coleman directs the children’s ministry at the Dallas megachurch and is the author of “Faithing It” and “Ferocious Warrior.” She is licensed through the Potter’s House School of Ministry and runs a ministry for women dealing with infertility.

Jakes Coleman married Richard Coleman, known as rapper SkiiVentura, on June 4, 2011 at her parents’ home. Both are in their 30s. They have adopted two children together.

It’s unclear whether they have already filed for divorce. Court records in Dallas County and surrounding counties don’t list a divorce case for the couple.

The Roys Report reached out to The Potter’s House Dallas to ask whether the church has any policies for its pastoral staff regarding divorce. Our call wasn’t immediately returned.

Richard Coleman survived kidney failure in 2018. He discussed his health and how his raps are rooted in his Christian faith in 2019 in an article published in the Dallas Observer.

“I want people to look back and see my legacy as someone who stood for something positive in the middle of a whole bunch of music that in hip-hop spews out hatred or selling dope and gun violence,” Coleman told the Observer.

In a 2017 Instagram post that’s been taken down, Jakes Coleman marked the couple’s sixth anniversary by describing how she prayed for her husband before they met.

She had asked God for self-control and help submitting to his will, the Christian Post reported at the time. She also prayed for “someone to protect me.”

In a now-deleted anniversary post the same day, Coleman also recalled how the couple had promised “to love and cherish one another through any circumstance,” the Christian Post reported.
